My view about changing the street names from the Old colonial names it may sound good but has a negative impact on the history of the country. Like Uganda and Britain they have an intertwined history. What happened ,happened ... it is history and it shouldn't be forgoten.

I completely understand the rationale for changing the street names from the old colonial names but also its quite sad that this period of Kenyas history is now somehow ignored.

I see your point, but how can intertwined colonial history be forgotten if African women and men who fought against colonial oppression and exploitation will be selected as new namegivers for these streets and roads and places? Wouldn't it be much better to remember and honor Lumumba or Nyerere or Yaa Asantewaa or Miriam Makeba amongst all these streets in European cities named after stupid white "heroes"?

it is up to us and the coming generations to rewrite the intertwined history. Until now it has been written by the Europeans. And even the history of the liberation is mostly written by male historians. Where are the women who fought against colonialism? It is high time to write their/our history and make it at least as visible as the white male dominated HIStory ist.
